The GLFFL Board of Directors

About Us:
The GLFFL Board of Directors was created in August 2004. The idea behind the BOD was at first to organize a group of owners who have the longest tenure and most representation throughout the GLFFL. Later, geographic location was also considered when selecting members, in the hopes of creating a more equal representation of viewpoints from all over the country. The BOD acts on trade veto requests, as well as rule change proposals. The rationale behind the creation of the BOD is that decisions can be made for the greater good of the GLFFL because they are being made by individuals who are unbiased and not a member of the league where a question has been posed.

In the event that members of the BOD are involved in the league that has a trade in question, they must abstain from the voting procedure.

GLFFL founder Kirk Pavelich has, on many occasions, compared the BOD to the United States Supreme Court. The diversity of opinions allows some of the members to study cases using the "competitive balance" argument. Others lean toward letting owners have the final say in managing their teams unless evidence of "collusion" can be presented. Still others use the "Greater Good of the GLFFL" as a policy in rendering decisions. The diversity of the group allows for a well-reasoned rationale by each of the members and hopefully, a final decision that is acceptable to all parties because of the fairness of the process.

Starting in January 2008, the Board of Directors was expanded to 19 members. Geographically, four members are located in the west, four are in the north, four are in the south and seven are in the east.

Voting can take place on a league issue or trade veto request if two thirds of the total membership, or 12 members, are present. When a quorum exists, 50% plus one will equal the decision.

The GLFFL's Board of Directors:

  • John A. - (johnnynine) - Resides in New Jersey with his wife and two boys. Owner of 17 fantasy football teams (11 GLFFL teams, 2 FantasyFootball4you Leagues (Ahmed) and 3 Lonewolf leagues (Dave C), and 1 team outside this community). I have been involved with Fantasy Football since 1994 (when you had to wait for newspaper box scores to find out how you did). For most of those years I was involved with 2 to 3 FF teams where I was a commissioner for one of those leagues for 7 years. Team names used - D&B Maniacs or D&B Destroyers.

  • Dave B. - (magnummac) - Resides in Hudson, Ohio. "I am no doubt the 'senior' member on the board, having been squirted out a mere 4 months after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. I was raised on a farm in Northern Indiana, went to school at Purdue and bounced around Indiana and Wisconsin before settling down in Ohio in 1973 (where I became addicted to the Browns) with my wife and 4 kids. I am one of the founders of Great Lakes Power where I still hang out today as a Senior Vice President. I've been playing fantasy football since 1990 as a charter and still active member of the Original Erie League. I brought the game to Great Lakes in 1991 and have commissioned it 12 of its 15 years. I'm also in the North Coast and Browns Backers Leagues and every once in a while get lucky enough to play in the Champions League. I'm definitely 'old school' conservative, hawkish and politically incorrect. You may not agree with me, but you'll definitely know where I stand."

  • Steve B. - (steveb) - Have lived in southern Minnesota all my life. Owner of about 18 GLFFL teams. Have brought all my online teams to the GLFFL. Have been doing fantasy football for about 9 years, the last 6 on internet sites. My teams are either SteamRollers or Dazed and Confused. Favorite hobbies are fishing, and of course fantasy football. Looking forward to another great year!

  • Joe B. - (Joe) - Born in Brooklyn, NY and now lives in New Jersey with his wife and two daughters. Owner of 20 + fantasy football teams (and counting), on various sites. Been devoted to fantasy sports for about 25 years. My good friend, Maury, is my partner in most of these leagues. Team name is the Trading Post.

  • Mitch C. - (stallion32) - Born in the great city of Cleveland and now resides in Dallas, Oregon (15 miles west of Salem). Retired Deputy Sheriff after 20+ years of service. Married to a great woman and friend for over 26 years. Has 4 great kids (3 girls and 1 boy). "I'm a true die-hard Browns, Indians, Buckeyes and Cavs fan and a fantasy football junkie!!!! I'm in over 12 GLFFL leagues, mostly as BrownsROCK or BuckeyesROCK!!! Proud to be a member of the BOD and extremely proud and satisfied with our Commish and the GLFFL!!!"

  • Dave C. - (LoneWolf1023) - Currently live in Elkridge, MD which is about 5 miles below Baltimore. I have a beautiful daughter and I am single again. The women I date just can't handle taking second fiddle to fantasy football. I've been playing FF for 5 years now and currently own 13 GLFFL leagues and 6 other leagues outside of GLFFL. I've lived in MD all my life and am a diehard Redskins Fan. My hobbies include football, fantasy football and writing. If anyone wants to read a great book, go to Amazon.com and look up my book called An Unbroken Bond. It’s a very good book. Just ask Dane about it. He’s read it. Thanks again for giving me the honor of being a part of the BOD!

  • Anthony C. - (GiantsXXI) - Lives in New Jersey, long time Giants fan and season ticket holder. CPA, but would rather play cards full time. Teams include Check Raise, All the Way, One for the Road, Summer Wind, Aces Up and Taylor Simms. Have run a local league for the past 10 years. Glad to be a part of the Board.

  • John F. - (jmfathletic) - Resides in Modesto, California (90 miles east of San Francisco).  Married with 2 sons, ages 23 and 21. I've been playing fantasy sports since 1980, mainly football and baseball.  Back then I was commissioner of our local league.  I have been playing internet leagues since they first started.  Played mostly leagues like ESPN, but got tired of winning t-shirts or banners if I happened to win the league.  Played in 4 KFFL leagues until one of the leagues was moved to GLFFL last year.  Couldn't have been happier.  Had 7 teams (5 orphaned) last year with GLFFL.  My favorite team is the Minnesota Vikings, and my team names usually are JMF Vikings.

  • Joe F. - (fastfish) - I am Joe FastFish from Daytona Beach, Florida. All I can add is that GLFFL has been the best game on the net since it began. If you are enjoying the action, then spread the word. This business deserves our support!

  • Brian K. - (ratpack) - Born and raised in Northern NJ, a few miles away from the stadium that Hoffa is buried under. AKA Rat Pack, AKA Chowbox, AKA Ibus, AKA Conn-quest. Married, one child (Jan. '05). Huge Canes fan as Fish would know, went to UConn to play baseball. Graduated there in '96 and am still on my high-horse regarding the whole men's/women's basketball teams. Been a CPA for the last 8 years and own a title insurance agency.

  • Justin K. - (Chaos Theory) - Deputy Sheriff in Sheboygan, WI (40 minutes south of Green Bay on shore of Lake Michigan). 9 years ff dynasty league experience. Commonly-used team names: Chaos Theory, Critical Mass, Ultimate Sacrifice.

  • Bruce L. - (Bruce) - Resides in Upstate New York (just north of Saratoga Springs). I am a long time student of football who found the GLFFL in 2005 and decided that this is the only way to play this game. It's been a great ride so far (Cowboys 1 Fan league Champ for 2007), but I still have a lot more mountains to climb and goals to meet. I am very honored to be a part of this group that makes up the BOD. Born and raised in Texas, I'm a lifetime COWBOYS fan. My GLFFL teams include: Rodgers Dodgers, No Name D, and Upstate Sactech.

  • Mike M. - (Gump) - I live in Patriot Nation with a 6-year old and a long-time (long suffering) fiancé. I was forcibly recruited into my first league ten years ago by my softball team. I was trash talking before I knew what the game was. Teams include Dick Buttkiss, Goons, Wipers, Dick, Brokeback Yankees and 19-0.

  • Ahmed M. - (Annihilators) - Lives in Little Rock, AR. Favorite football team is the San Francisco 49ers. Goes by Annihilators or some variation in most leagues, "Classic Soul" in the Classic Leagues. "GLFFL is well run, easy to participate in and payouts are made quickly. My passions are my woman, my baby girl, God, and Fantasy Football.  I crave competition and enjoy good sportsmanship. Good luck, have fun, play fair."

  • Steve P. - (Payne) - Currently reside about 10 minutes north of Detroit in the wonderful community of Grosse Pointe Woods. 32 years old. Married high school sweetheart in '97. Two fantastic daughters - Jaden is 4 and Addyson is 18 months. Employed as the Controller at Torsion Control Products in Troy, MI since 1994.

  • Jim S. - (steaker) - Currently living in beautiful Oviedo, Florida (just 30 minutes from Mickey-Town). Started playing fantasy football in a local league well over 20 years ago when few knew what fantasy football was. Eventually moved to a small online league where you would send in your picks via email and have the commish do the draft manually (that was challenging). Currently play in about 15-20 online (most all GLFFL) and local leagues a year. All my team names are obtained from the first out of state license plate that I see after I join a league. Honored to be part of this governing board!

  • Eric S. - (EricS) - Born and raised in Roseville, CA, about 20 minutes north of Sacramento.  I've been playing fantasy football for about 10 years now, dynasty for about 6 years.  I keep meaning to cut down on teams, but seem to add 2-3 a year.  I had 21 teams in 2007...   All of my teams go by the name "WEASELS" and I'm not really sure where in the world that came from...

  • Dane S. - (dstrausz) - resides in Lakeview, Oregon. "I'm the proud owner of 14 teams in the GLFFL. I have been playing FFB for about 12 Years. As most people know, I'm one of the Niner Faithful. My teams usually have a variation of 'Oregon' in them. I am proud to live in a beautiful State, and it's an honor to be asked to be a part of the BOD."

  • Lee T. (LT KATs) - Attorney in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Lifelong DALLAS COWBOYS fans since the mid 60s when a kid - "I remember the ICE BOWL !!!" Former police officer, graduate of The University of Oklahoma College of Law, lifelong OU Sooners fan. Married .. wife's initials are KAT ... you would think she wouldn't complain about my fantasy football addiction so much since MOST of my teams are named after her!!! Hence the names of majority of my teams with some variation of "KATs".  Currently in 17 GLFFL leagues. Championships in 2003 Superior 3, 2005 Cowboys Fan League 1, 2005 Joe Kapp, 2005 Ontario 1, 2005 Grand Champion Playoff League. 2006 Dick Butkus IDP, 2006 Michigan 3, 2006 Michigan 13, 2006 Draft Day Guru, 2006 Classic 4.
